Safdarjung Tomb is one of the historical places of the Delhi, its and peaceful place constructed by
the Mughals. When your rickshaw stops on a busy street, you immediately know that you have
arrived your destination. Three onion-shaped domes and a huge ornately gateway make you feel
so. Stand in a long cue, with traffic noise behind, pay the entrance fee and walk through the
gateway to enter the haven of silence. As the sun somehow manages to break through the clouds
and shine overhead, in the middle of the ground, stands the proud Mausoleum of Safdarjung, a
brown-red building with domes and slender towers at the corners.

Despite its historical importance, the tomb sometimes doesn't register on the must-see sights radar. Built on a high
terrace in a grand garden with several pavilions, a court yard, a mosque and a madrassa (Muslim school) inside
the premises. Toilets and drinking water is also available for the visitors. Unfortunately teh water canals are empty;
they would have given the place a more stately impression. Still the palm trees and the well kept garden looks
inviting!
