Its location on the other side of the Yamuna River does not make it any different in culture and tradition, from the rest of Delhi. The culture here the same vibrance and vigor, and festivals are celebrated with the same zeal. East Delhi accommodates a large part of people from the other parts of the country. While Mayur Vihar Phase-III has a decent population of South Indians, Mayur Vihar Phase I and Phase II is a home to Bengalis and Christians. Other areas of East Delhi like Seelumpur have a good number of Muslims with places like Geeta Colony being dominated by Sikhs and Punjabi.
The most Traffic prone areas of Vikas Marg, Preet Vihar and Shahdra also fall under the region. Laxmi Nagar and Patparganj are other densely populated areas of East Delhi. This region is loaded with its fashionable designer boutiques and popular hang outs like Mc Donald, Nirulas, Dominos Pizza and Saffron Court.
