The vibrant city of Delhi is a pool of different religions, cultures and languages. One can find people of all cultural
backgrounds. The most commonly spoken languages are Hindi, Punjabi and English. The essence of the city lies in
its culture and ethnicity of the region. Delhi is known for its culture, the festival which shows peace is the Phool
Walon Ki Sair, which is celebrated every year in the month of September. In this festival people use to offer flower
and embroidered fans to the shrine of 13th century Sufi Saint, Khwaja Bakhtiyar Kaki, and with this also to the
Yogmaya Temple that is situated in Mehrauli.
Diwali (the festival of lights), Mahavir Jayanti, Guru Nanak's Birthday,
Durga Puja, Holi, Lohri, Maha Shivaratri, Eid ul-Fitr, Moharram and Buddha Jayanti, Qutub Festival, International
Mango Festival and Vasant Panchami (the Spring Festival), Kite Flying Festival are a few other celebrations on the
region. A tour for the speed lovers is the The Auto Expo, Asia’s largest auto show, which is held in Delhi biannually.
The other grand exhibition in Pragati Maidan is the World Book Fair, which is the second largest exhibition of books
in the world. Held twice, every year this treat for book lovers has as many as 23 nations participation.
