Various small to medium sized industries have been set up at Kapurthala. These are:
- Rail Coach Factory(RCF)- The RCF short for Rail Coach Factory, Kapurthala started in the year 1986. Located in a lush green facility the RCF caters to the Indian Railways by building innovative hi-tech railway carriages. The RCF was established by the government of India. It is instrumental to the economic growth of the district. It has received ISO 14001 certification.
- JCT Mills, Phagwara. These textile mills are the most successful in India.
- SSK, Kapurthala set up in the year 1935 is the oldest and the largest manufacturer of Electrical wiring accessories..
- Oswal Agro (Sugar) Mills.
- Jagatjit Industries Limited (JIL), was set up in the year 1944. JIL has one of the biggest breweries of alcoholic beverages. JIL, Kapurthala is also the largest manufacturer of dairy products in India.
- Akes Rice Mills, Kapurthala –The upcoming rice market deserves a special mention. Kapurthala, is home to good quality and quantity rice. Multinational players have now recognized Kapurthala’s rice market as the place to be. This has improved the quality of life of the local farmers. Sela, parboiled and raw rice are available in both basmati and non-basmati rice.
Aside from these, numerous agro-based ancillary industries have come up.
