The Culture:- The city is well known for its classical folk dance forms. Piliyesa is one of the very famous dance forms in the city which is performed on the occasions of Krishna Janmashtami, Dussehra and other auspicious functions. Karadi Vesha and Bear Dance is also the another famous dance forms which are performed on the eve of Dussehra. Konkatta and Cock fight are also the favorite sports in the city.
The Festivals:- There are various festivals celebrated in Mangalore, Ganesh Chaturthi being one of the most important one. In this festival, people worship the statue of Lord Ganesh for seven days and then after immerse the statue in water. Monti Festival is celebrated for the growth of new crops. Apart from this, Jain Food Festival, Tulu Film Festival, Christmas and Diwali are also celebrated in traditional ways.
The Food:- The food of Mangalore is very famous all over the world because of its specific flavor. Spices and fresh coconut are the most integral part of the all recipes. Rice is the main food in the city and is cooked in different forms. The famous most dishes are Lady Fish, Ole Bella, Idli-Sambar, Kori Roti, Chicken Curry, Mutton Biryani and Neer Dosa. Apart from these, the city is also called the ice-cream town for the famous ice-cream parlors.
