Dehrudun is famous for its unique fairs and festivals which depict its real culture and tradition.
The JHANDA FAIR:
The Jhanda fair is celebrated every year at Guru Ram Rai Darbar, a historical complex in Dehradun, it
comes after the five days of Holi festival. New flag is put on the staff every year, many devotees come
from far places to get blessing of Guru Ram Rai.
TAPAKESHAWAR FAIR:
Situated at the bank of river Tons, place has its own importance in Indian mythology. A big fair takes
place here on the Shivratri day, many devotees come here to get the blessing of lord Shiva.
LAKHAWAR FAIR:
Lakhawar fair is celebrated at Lakhawar village every year in the month September, fair gives way to
many cultural activities.
BISSU FAIR:
It is celebrated every year at Jhanda ground in the cantonment area of Chakrata, it marks real culture of
Jaunsari tribe.
Shaheed Veer Kesri Chandra Fair
It falls every year on the month of April, which is dedicated to freedom fighter Veer Kesri Chandra. It
is celebrated at Ramtal, which is also famous for its natural pond of 30 meters deep and wide.
MAHASU DEVTA'S FAIR:
It is a local fair of Jaunsari tribe, which is celebrated at Hanol. Fair falls on the month of August every
year. Mahasu Devta's (diety) procession with musical prayer is the main attraction of the fair.
