Uttrakhand is rich in art and cultural heritage. The culture of Uttrakhand is living through the folk songs and dances that have been preceded from ages. These songs and dances are the part and parcel of people .
Chhopati and Bajuband is the folk song that is sung in the form of dialogues. Chounphula and Jhumeila are the seasonel songs while Mangal is sung during marriage ceremony. Jaggar are perfomed during the religious ceremonies.
Dances are perfomed according to the regions.The Folk Dances of Garhwal are Langvir Nritya, Barada Nati, Pandva Nritya, Shotiya Tribal Folk Dances.
Folk Dance of Kumaon are Ramola, Jagars, Chhapeli, Chancheri , Jhora Choliya Dance ,Thali, Jadda and Jhainta.
Art in this state has a typical style which include their paintings sculpture, paintings and architecture. The paintings of region generally have folk themes. Wall paintings is the traditional form of art. The women of Kumaon region depict paintings on the walls and floor on marriage occasions. The other form of painting is miniature type that was brought to the state by exiled Mughal prince Suleimen Shuko.
Regarding architecture, many buildings or temples in kumaon region adapted the “himadari’’ style.
