There are no hard and fast cultural traditions of Sonepat but it follows the typical
traditions of Haryana unlike some other cities of Haryana. The city is rich in
folklore of Haryana. The seasonal and religious festivals glorify the culture of this
region. Folk dances, like other creative art, helps in sublimating the performer's
worries and cares. The people here have preserved their old religious and social
traditions of their state.

All these dishes can be tasted well in any city of Haryana but if You go to
Sonepat, you'll find these in variety. Dals are not consumed daily and vegetables
seasoned lightly are preferred. People of Sonepat or even from whole Haryana
also like teet ka achar or pickle made from the fruit of the Kair tree. As the fruit is
bitter, it is first crushed and then soaked in brine to remove the bitterness. Later,
spices and oil are added. The pickle is ready to be consumed after some days.
