Ranchi is a center of various premier institutes and higher education. Ranchi University was established in the year of 1960 and presently it comrprising of 29 affiliated and 35 constituent colleges. The colleges and educational institutes of the city are:

CBSE Schools: - It includes Swami Shradhanand DAV Centenary, Bridgeford School, Manan Vidya, Nirja Sahay DAV Public School, Ursuline Convent School, Jawahar Vidya School, DAV Public School, Vivekananda Vidya Mandir, Sachidanand Gyan Bharti Model School, Grk DAV Public School etc.
Nursing Colleges: - It includes Metas Adventist College, Shine Abdulr Razzaque Ansari Institute of Health Education and Research Centre, Tribal College of Nursing, Florence College of Nursing, RIMS College of Nursing etc.
Medical Colleges: - It includes Patliputra Medical College, MGM Medical College, Central Institute of Psychiatry, Ranchi Institute of Neuropsychiatry and Allied Sciences, Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences etc.
