Places to Visit Jamnagar

Bala Hanuman Temple
Bala Hanuman Temple has earned a place in Guinness Book of World Records for continuously chanting the “Ram Dhun” since 1st august 1964. It is still unstoppable and chanted for 24 hours. The Bala Hanuman Temple is situated at the southeastern side of Ranmal Lake (also known as Lakhota Lake).

Bhidbanjan Temple

This Ancient Bhid Bhanjan Temple was founded by the Jams is worth visiting even if you are atheist. The temple complex attracts attention in evening when it display spectacular view.

Shiv Temples
There are many Shiv temples in the city. Among them Badri Kedar Nath and Nilkanth Mahadev Temle adjacent to the Town Hall and the Kashi Vishwanath Temple situated on the K.V. Road are worth visiting.

Jain Temples

There are around 30 Jain temples in Jamnagar. Vardhman Shah's Temple’s foundation stone was laid in 1612 during the rule of His Highness Jam Jasaji I and completed in the year 1620.

Raisi Shah's Temple
It was built by Tejsi shah in 1564 which were demolished by Moghul army in 1590. Tejsi Shah renovated these temples in 1592.  Sheth's Temple and Vasupujya Swami's Temple are other eminent temples.

Towers and Monuments
The two towers of Mandvi and Pancheshwar and the Khambhalia,& Grain Market Gate are the reminiscences of this city of 17th  century built by Wazir Meraman Khawas (Meru Khawas) who was a despot  ruling over Jamnagar between 1744 to 1800 AD.  He had fortified Jamnagar by building around it walls of white stone with 5 gates, 23 towers and 8 postern gates.

Bohra Hajira
Situated  just  on entering point of  Jamnagar city by road on the Rajkot Highway, it is the  splendid Structure on the banks of the river. Permission has to be taken before visiting the place.

Darbargadh Area
Situated across the road of Darbargadh is the citadel built by Jam Saheb Ranjit Sinhji. It is built in European style which comprises the arcades of cusped arches, larger on the ground floor and smaller on the upper storey, pilasters on the curving walls, and balusters on the parapet.

Lakohta lake
It is the famous visiting place of Jamnagar. Amidst the lake there is museum which is the ancient fort which is the house of many ancient sculptures and weapons. The Motor boat and paddle boat ride on this beautiful lake makes your trip more memorable.

The tidal coastline of Jamnagar offers fantastic beaches to the visitors during high tide. Positra
A sandy beach gives the visual delight through the beautiful lagoons. The bird watching is the remarkable activity here. There is a sunrise point also.
Pirotan
This is the clean and the sandy beach which is the tide dependent. The migration of bird flocks offers a golden opportunity for a bird watcher. To reach this island one will have to hire a boat and permissions are needed from the Forest department, Customs Department and the Ports.

Sivrajpur

It is the beautiful beach which is calm and 12 kilometers away from Dwarka.

Balachadi

It is the popular beach and mostly visited by the locals during full moon night.

Marine National Park

It is the country’s first marine park of its kind which presents the splendid underwater world. It is very rare experience to watch the corals without diving from the surface. The unique species of corals consisiting both hard and soft is the striking feature of this park. It is the habitat of sea species such as crabs, prawns and sponges. It is 7 km from the city center and consists of 42 islands.
