47%.
LOCATION: Firozpur is an ancient city situated close to the present day Indo-Pakistan border. It lies between
latitude 29-55' and 31-09'.
LITERACY RATE: Average literacy rate is about 71%, higher than the national average of 59.5%. Firozpur is the
city where Sikhs do not have a big majority making up only 59% of the population.
SEX RATIO: Firozpur is at the top in Punjab with a sex ratio of 819 females per 1000 males.
CLIMATE: As per the Climate, the summer are very hot, after that the monsoon season is only for a short time
period and the winter's are too chilling. The summer season remains from april to the end of june, and the cold
season remains from November to March. The monsoon season of Ferozpur is similar to the south-Wester
monsoon in the the humidity increase by 65 to 70 per cent, but the atmosphere remains dry. The summer is the
driest interval of time of this area when humidity decreases to 30 per cent or less.
RAINFALL: The rainfall in this region is increased year to year every year. In the past 50-year period from 1901 to
1950 the highest rainfall among these years was 249. As compared to the other region the annual rainfall is 80%
but in Ferozpur it is equal to the two year rainfall percentage.
PEOPLE: Firozpur is a place of typical Punjabi people. However, as it falls on Indo-Pak border, so it was occupied
by Muslims also.
