Places to Visit Digha

Digha is always been in the list of nature lovers. Digha is the best place for stress out as it owns numerous beaches and beautiful sea sights.

New Digha is another part of Digha which consists of numerous public buildings such as the Science Center, the hospital, Marine Aquarium etc.

Shankarpur Beach is situated at the distance of just 14 kms from Digha. The beach is less crowded and recently promoted as a tourist spot; earlier it was only the fishing harbor. Delightful sea waves, casuarina plantations. and pleasant weather make it one of the eminent picnic spots.

Udaipur Sea Beach is a barren beach which is situated near the Bengal- Orrisa border. It is just 2 kms from the town, Digha. The beach is surrounded by various trees and shrubs which makes it more adventurous tourist spot.

Amarabati Park is one of the major attractions in the Digha that can be reached in just 5 minutes by walking from New Digha. The park has variety of flowers, there is a little lake inside the park that provides boating facilities.

The Marine Aquarium and Research Centre (MARC) was built in 1989 with the aim to present the marine biodiversity of the area. Today it is one of the largest inbuilt marine aquariums in India that is equipped with sea water circulation system. It is consists of 24 marine tanks and 8 fresh tanks. The center is opened to public on all working days.

Mandarmani Beach is yet another virgin beach on the bay of Bengal. It is a kind of fishing harbor which is gradually transforming into tourist place as lots of tourist come here to seek isolation. The beach is just few kms away from the town, Digha.

Talsari is a kind of delta which falls on Bengal-Orison border. This place is also visited by numerous tourists.

Chandaneswar Temple is dedicated to lord Shiva that is located at the distance of just 8 kms from Digha. The temple is believed to be 100 years old. A big fair is celebrated every year on “Pana Sankranti”, the first day of the Oriya calendar. A large number of devotees visit the temple to get blessing of lord Shiva.
