Pahalgam:
It is the world famous hill station 45 Km. from Anantnag town, situated at a height of 7200 ft. Once it
was a great tourist attraction .It is known as the best health resort in the country, located at the banks of
the river Lidder. The Pahalgam Valley presents a glamorous look due to its pine forests, snow clad
mountains, healthy climate and vast spread meadow. Heavy flow of water in Lidder Nallah enriches the
charming beauty of the valley. Pahalgam also serves as the base camp for the famous Amarnath Yatra.
Acchabal:
Acchabal is a ancient Mughal garden that was built by Mughal empire Shah Jahan in 1620 for his
daughter Jahanara. This important tourist spot about eight Km. away from Anantnag. Anantnag is
famous for an ancient spring surrounded by a garden terraced. This garden has high chinar trees, lush
green lawns and the springs. The upper part of the garden is called "Bagh-e-Begum Abad".
Kokernag:
It is 20 Km from the district headquarter. Large number of tourists visit here specially in summer.
Kokernag is a beautifully fixed garden with water spring well-known for its curative properties.
Verinag:
About 26 Kmaway from Anantnag this spring is considered the original source of river Jehlum.
The spring is positioned at the base of hill surrounded by trees and evergreen plant. It was Built by
Mughal Emperor Jahangir and engravers from Iran were brought to built this. The river Jehlum starts
from the bank located outside to the small canal which is form from spring
Daksum:
It is a forest surrounded by mountains and are famous for flora and fauna. Located in the dense
forests, this scenic spot falls on the Anantnag-Simthan- Kishtwar road where a garrulous stream full of
trout fish.
