Abalashrama, located in Dr. D V G Street in Basavanagudi, Bangalore Town, is one of the oldest authorized voluntary social organisations in the town. Late Sri Chakravarthy Venkatavarada Iyengar introduced the way for establishing Abalashrama at the beginning of 20th century by getting married to Smt Krishnamma, a childhood widow. The royal beliefs of Arya Samaj, his personal passion for assisting limited women, and the assistance he obtained from his wife sowed the seeds for beginning this exclusive institution.
