Sathaye College building on Dixit road was still under construction when the classes were conducted in Parle Tilak Vidyalaya High School. The keystone for the college building was laid on 4th November, 1959 by Shri Ganesh Hari Pethe, the President of the Institution. The main objective of the College is to promote in students commitment towards society and the nation. The college aims at inculcating moral values within the students.
Sathaye College is situated at prominent western suburb of Mumbai Vile Parle East, Sathaye College is known as one of the prominent colleges in Mumbai. IT welcomes more than 20,000 visitors to campus each year. Sathaye College has a decent infrastructure, which tries to meet the different needs of students and provide basic facilities to them; right from Practical Work to Project preparations.
Sathaye College Campus has facilities like: Science Laboratories, the College Library for all streams, Gymkhana and the Auditorium; which not only improves students' educational values, but also enhances their cultural talent. The Physics laboratory is well equipped and includes important equipments such as Michelson Interferometer, LASER, Infrared Thermometer, LCR Bridge, Microprocessor Trainer Kit, Hall Effect Kit, Fabry Perot Interferometer, Constant Deviation Spectrometer, Experimental Electronic Kits, etc. The college library has a well stocked collection with over 72,000 books. It also gets 62 periodicals related to the courses taught in the college.
Sathaye College has a rich belief of fostering creativity and the arts. Though Sathaye is a non residential college, it has over 2000 junior college and 1200 degree college students in campus.
