SRM University - Kancheepuram was founded in 1968. Sri Ramaswamy Memorial University, also known as SRM University is a co-educational private university in the state of Tamil Nadu, India. The university has four campuses in Tamil Nadu which are located at Kancheepuram, Kancheepuram district, Ramapuram, Vadapalani, Trichy and one in Modinagar, near Delhi. The different blocks within SRMIST include, SRM General Hospital, SRM Medical College, SRM Kancheepuram Dental College, the PG Block, the Hi-Tech Block, the Main Block, the Mechanical Block, the Mech PG Block, the Electrical Sciences Block, the Computer Science Block, the Biotech block, IT Park 15 floors, an Auditorium 4500 seating capacity, MBA block, MBA library along with a Central Library with an Internet Cafe and a Cafeteria as well.

In SRM University - Kancheepuram there are 6 hostels, some of which are the K.R.S Hostel, Medical College Mens and Women's Hostel the UG Hostel, the PG Hostel, Meenakshi Women's Hostel, International Hostel. SRM University - Kancheepuram offers courses like Engineering, Medicine, Management, Science and Humanities and etc. Students of SRM also have the access to medical facilities at various places, apart from a 24-hour dispensary which has been set up on campus with a doctor on call.
