Osmania University - OU Hyderabad was established in the year of 1918 and is the seventh oldest in India, the third oldest in south India and the first to be established in the erstwhile princely state of Hyderabad. With a sprawling campus that is spread across nearly 1600 acres of land and buildings of majestic beauty and architectural splendor, Osmania University - OU Hyderabad, is perhaps, the largest higher education system in the Country. It is a home to more than 300,000.....Continuing reading students who are pursuing their higher studies in its Campus. Its faculty and staff number are over 5000.

The Office of the University is located in the Osmania University - OU Hyderabad campus with a separate spacious building with two big halls, one for Registration and the other for a Library, a Computer room and separate rooms for Chief, Deputy Chief and supporting staff.

Osmania University - OU Hyderabad has a well-equipped, big Library, which has various updated books on Admissions, Scholarships, Fellowships, Employment opportunities etc., in India and abroad. It also subscribes to several daily News Papers along with the Employment News for the benefit of the students. A data bank consisting of “Occupation Information” is updated monthly for the benefit of the students. This Bureau of Osmania University - OU Hyderabad has a unique facility of administering the aptitude test, Model Tests and other psychological tests to the students on request at nominal charges. This programme has been very much in demand in the last few years. Group testing is usual at the Bureau and affiliated Colleges and individual Career Counseling is done based on the results.

The Health Centre offers free of cost medical treatment to students, staff and their families. It is situated in the Osmania University - OU Hyderabad main campus, is located near the B-Hostel building. There is a Guest House in the University which is situated behind the University's Main Library building and has furnished single and double rooms for accommodating guest.

Osmania University - OU Hyderabad provides hostel accommodation to over 4500 students coming from outside Hyderabad city. Soon after the admissions are finalized, outstation students have to apply to the Chief Warden through the Heads of the Departments and Principal of the College for hostel accommodation. There are 14 hostels in the University campus and admissions are given subject to availability. A separate hostel accommodation exists for engineering students that is comparatively closer to the College of Engineering. The State Bank of Hyderabad, Branch, is also in the campus and is situated on the ground floor of the Arts College building.
