In 1948, Miranda House University College for Women was established by the Vice-Chancellor Sir Maurice Gwyer. The keystone was laid by Lady Edwina Mountbatten on March 7 in the same year. The College also offers a Career Oriented Add-on Course on Tourism that can be opted for by students as a parallel sub-discipline while pursuing their degree level education. This course on Tourism is approved by the University Grants Commission and is self-financing. Furthermore, several other short duration career oriented courses have been specially designed for students and are on offer. The Placement cell of Miranda House University College for Women College consists of faculty members as well as student volunteers.
