Kamala Nehru College was earlier known as the 'Government College for Women' and it was run from Defence Colony.
Kamala Nehru College is situated in the heart of many easily accessible market centers and hangout zones of Delhi. GK, South Ex., Saket (PVR and citywalk), Ansal Plaza, Defense Colony and SDA market are very close to the campus.
Mithas is located right opposite the main entrance of the college and is the closest relaxing zone

Kamala Nehru College started out with merely 16 staff members and just 209 students that passed out in the first batch in 1968. In 1966-67, the College known as 'Modern College for Women' and in 1967-68 the College Magazine took the new name 'Apoorva' which was earlier known as ‘Swati’. Kamala Nehru College in the start offered courses only in the Arts Stream. The Commerce Stream was added afterwards. The first Principal and founder of Kamala Nehru College was Dr.K.K. Gorowara.
Kamala Nehru College has a placement Cell which was set up in 2006 with the purpose of not only making students aware of present placement opportunities and familiarizing them with the skill they would require when they enter the job market. It also makes them aware of the multiple options available to them for post graduation in terms of courses and higher education.
In the year 2007-08, the Placement Cell was set up under the guidance of Dr. Rupali Bhardwaj and Ms. Ira Gaur who gave a platform for organizations from diverse sectors of the corporate world like Ernst and Young, Siemens, lTC-Welcome Group, IBM Daksh, Oberoi Group of hotels, Google, Genpact, E-Value Serve, ICICI Prudential Life Insurance and Matrix cellular services to come to the college for campus recruitment. These events attract keen students’ participation and many final year students are also offered placements and are given call letters on the spot.....Reading in short
