Indian Institute of Technology - IIT Hyderabad was founded in the year 2008. The college was built on the chosen site for the institute which was Kandhi, twenty five miles from the city of Hyderabad, with a total area of 523 acres given by the Andhra Pradesh State Government. While the construction was under process, the first academic session of the Institute started on August 20, 2008, in its temporary Campus at the Ordnance Factory at Yeddumailaram, Medak District, Andhra Pradesh. Indian Institute of Technology - IIT Hyderabad is situated in its temporary grounds in the calm residential campus of Ordnance Factory Medak at Yeddumailaram (Medak District, Andhra Pradesh). The necessary infrastructure like hostels, classrooms, offices, recreation, sports and medical services, are all situated within the OFMK campus. The permanent campus of IIT Hyderabad is situated on the National Highway 9 at Kandi village near Sangareddy town, in Medak District, Andhra Pradesh.
The faculty, students and staff of Indian Institute of Technology - IIT Hyderabad are creating a new institute, an institute, which in due course of time hopes to make a permanent mark in education and research. Though Indian Institute of Technology - IIT Hyderabad is young as compared to the other IITs, it has a great vision, agility, dedication and energy to create a new education and research environment. A few students of Indian Institute of Technology - IIT Hyderabad have also received international scholarships and some are interning in Japan.
Indian Institute of Technology - IIT Hyderabad is not only making engineers, it may soon be home to future doctors as well. While the institute hopes to offer MD degrees in the next two-three years, there are plans to start MBBS courses soon after. Students at Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad also have the facility to reside in the hostels: IIT Temporary Campus one for boys and another for girls.
Indian Institute of Technology - IIT Hyderabad offers undergraduate programs in engineering which are traditionally of 4 years Bachelor of Technology. It also offers postgraduate courses in the engineering which are 2 years Master of Technology and PhD. Admissions to M. Tech are made only once a year. The Post Graduate students are admitted through different entrance exams.....Reading in short
