In the beginning, the college seemed to have been fortunate in having, as its head, an honest, intelligent, broadminded & large-hearted pioneer and guide, in the person of Dr. Charles Morehead, for 15 years as its first superintendent and later from 1851 (when the post was re-designated) as the Principal.

Bai Motlibai & Cama & Albless Hospitals were affiliated to Grant Medical College and Sir Jamshedjee Jeejebhoy Group of Hospitals by the year of 1923. This is a high-status representative body of the students that are engaged in Student Welfare Activities. It is in charge for the maintenance and repairs of the Boys Common Room, Ladies Common Room and the Gymkhana and for the entire student related activities inside or outside the campus.
There are 200 admissions to MBBS program each year in Grant Medical College and Sir Jamshedjee Jeejebhoy Group of Hospitals. The students are admitted on the basis of merit with constitutional reservations, done by the centralized process by Govt. of Maharashtra. The seats are reserved as: 15% by DGHS though All India PMT of the remaining seats, 30% for State Level and 70% for Development board area. There are more than 1000 medical students studying in Grant Medical College. In the college, there are 4 hostels for boys and girls.
Grant Medical College and Sir Jamshedjee Jeejebhoy Group of Hospitals has postgraduate programs in all major branches. Every year approximately 130 students are admitted for PG courses. The seats are distributed by: 25% by All India entrance exam, 25% in service Medical officer's quota and remaining by State Level Entrance Exam. Yearly admissions are 18, through all India competitive exams. Annually 50 candidates are admitted to the course, which is of 3 half years duration. In addition, the College also conducts DMLT course for training technicians. There are 12 seats in total and the duration for this course is one and half years.....Reading in short
