In response to demand of the communities in Marathwada region for a university of its own, the government appointed on 27 April 1957 a committee with the license to provide recommendations regarding establishment of such a university. Hence, the governor of Maharashtra signed the Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University - BAMU Act on May 5, 1958. Jawaharlal Nehru, former prime minister of India, inaugurated Marathwada University on August 23, 1958 at Aurangabad on the premises of the temporary main building of the university.....Reading in short
