The Delhi College of Arts and Commerce-DCAC was the first college to introduce a three year honors programme in July-August 1989. In today’s world, press and media are important organs of a democratic and free society. The face of media growth and development has enhanced the need for competent professionals in the country. The syllabus of the course is designed to prepare the students with an intellectual and inter-disciplinary approach essential for the profession. The course aims to strike a balance between the theoretical approach to the field and close interaction with eminent journalists to enable the students to create a foyer in the market of contention.
The curriculum is emphasized not only the skills of news writing, reporting and editing but also gives a broad view of the contemporary national and international scenario as well. The learning process also includes festivals, seminars, workshops and conferences on media issues and events so that the students get used to the recent trends and dynamics. Delhi College of Arts and Commerce-DCAC library is fully air conditioned together with ground floor reading room, reserve section and stack halls. The entire collection of the library is now 1,18,147. A total of 1459 books of different departments were added during the current session. The library subscribes to sixteen dailies and fifty eight journals/ Magazines both Indian and Foreign which are related to different subjects. The Library has increased University’s network resources with five terminals in the reserve section for research purpose. The access of 4500 electronic journals through University Grants Commission Info net is accessible in the reserve section and ground floor reading room of the library.
Delhi College of Arts and Commerce-DCAC offers different courses like Bachelor of Journalism, and the restructured Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Commerce courses. The College has well qualified and academically distinguished teaching staff members who have over the years, maintained an excellent rapport with the students.
Delhi College of Arts and Commerce-DCAC achieves its goals by the support of the faculty and distinguished experts from the media industry. The Alumni of this college are some of the rising stars in the media world. Delhi College of Arts and Commerce-DCAC has a well well-known Job Placement Cell which has been functioning for the last three years. Due to the consistent efforts of the Principal, Convenor, Non-teaching Staff and the Student volunteers, the job placement cell of Delhi College of Arts and Commerce-DCAC is one of the best in the South Campus.
Various National and Multi-National Companies such as Google, Ernst & Young, Barclays, Capital-IQ, Evalue Serve, Genpact, IBM, ICICI Prudential, Bharti Axa Life Insurance, Max New York Life Insurance, Kingfisher Airlines and Flour Daniel have been visiting the campus frequently. Last year the placement cell placed around 100 students in all these companies. The average pay-package of the students last year was Rs.2.5 lakhs + incentives.....Reading in short
