Candidates wishing to enrol in the Master of Education must have qualified for one of the following:
1) Any appropriate degree in New Zealand with two 300-level courses in Education, or
2) A Postgraduate Diploma in Education or equivalent, or
3) Any appropriate degree in New Zealand and have successfully completed a minimum one-year teacher training course; or have experience as a teacher, educator or counsellor; or be deemed suitable for training as a counsellor, or
4) Any appropriate degree in New Zealand and completed the Postgraduate Certificate in Education.

Master of Education in Child and Family Psychology in University of Canterbury
The Endorsed Degree of Master of Education in Child and Family Psychology is available only to candidates who first completed three or more of EDUC 412/EDUC 612/EDEM 661, EDUC 416/EDUC 616/EDEM 662, EDUC 421/EDUC 621/EDEM 663, or EDUC 461/EDUC 661/EDEM 664 prior to 2010, and who gain selection into the limited entry courses HLTH 670 (or CFPY 501) and HLTH 671 (or CFPY 502).
