Sonipat also spelled as Sonepat is an ancient town and a municipal council in
Sonipat District in the state of Haryana, India. It is a typical Haryanvi city.
Sonipat is bordered by the states of Delhi and Uttar Pradesh as well as the
districts of Rohtak, Jind and Panipat.
There is no perennial river in the district
but The River Yamuna runs along the eastern boundary of the district. The
underground water resources differ from area to area. The district headquarter,
Sonipat is connected by metalled roads with important cities of the state and to
Delhi. It is also connected by broad gouge railway line with Delhi and
Chandigarh.
