What is a Combined Defense service?
India is the home of the brave people and it will remain the most terrestrial of the free only so long as it brave. After the graduation, everyone should join the defense services in order to serve our nation; this is possible now with combined defense services. CDS exam is mostly conducted in the month of February and August. UPSC conducts the CDS written exam twice in a year to admit students for academies of different services, and this test includes English, general knowledge studies, and Mathematics. CDS exam is one of the biggest openings for those who want to pursue their career in this field and want to serve their nation. This is so great that women’s/girls are also getting the chance to serve their nation; they can also apply for CDS exam but under the post of officer training academy only.
What are the Eligibility criteria for registration?
Before applying applicants are advised to check the Eligibility criteria for the exam. Applicants must accomplish the admissibility norms of UPSC CDS exam at the following ranks:
1. Nationality: Applicant should have the citizenship of India.
2. Age limit: Male candidates whether he is married or unmarried should not be born earlier than 02nd January and not later than 01st January 1998 only are eligible. Unmarried women, issueless widows who have not remarried and issueless divorces who are not remarried are eligible.
3. Educational Qualification: different jobs posts require different qualification such as the applicant must have done the bachelors from the recognized university.
4. Examination Centre: Exam centres are allotted to the applicants to appear for the CDS prelims & mains test. The applicants who have applied for UPSC CDS examination need to select a suitable examination Centre for the CDS paper as per their viability.
What is the selection procedure for CDS?
UPSC CDS Selection procedure involves the following stages:
• Written examination: The Recruitment process is done through written that is conducted by UPSC twice in a year and the candidate opting for IMA, INA, and AFA are required to give three written subjects which are mathematics, English, and general knowledge.
• Personality Test/ Personal Interview: The applicants who obtain good marks in the examination are selected and then further they called for SSB interview.
• Document Authentication: the following list of documents is submitted for verification of those who are selected;
• Identity proof
• Passport size photograph
• Birth Certificate
• Academic Degrees
• Certificate of Eligibility for certain candidates
• Category or cast certificate
• Residence proof etc.
• Medical Examination: the last round is selected on the basis of the medical fitness of the entire shortlisted candidate.
How you can apply for the CDS Exam:
o For the CDS exam, you can apply online by filling out and submitting an application form with all the required details.
o The fee of the application is Rs 200 for the general applicant.
o Applying for CDS exam online starts in the month of July of a given year and ends on August.
o Date of the exam is in the month of October and results will be declared in December and you will get the admit card in the second week of September.
o The registration form is required to be filled in two portions and please note that the registration ID and password because you will use to download your admit card.
o You are suggested to download your admit card at least 3 weeks before the consideration form.
