Introduction Palwal

Palwal is the city located in the state of Haryana. It is designated as the headquarters of Palwal district which is the 21st district in Haryana. This city is located at the distance of 60 km from Delhi on the Delhi Mathura Highway and has the area of 22.10 km². Palwal is located at 28°09′N 77°20′E / 28.15°N 77.33°E / 28.15; 77.33 with the average height of 195 metres (639 ft). According to local tradition, Palwal was the Apelava town mentioned in the Mahabharata. It was later resorted by Vikramaditya. The town houses Hindu Temple called “Panchvati”. Palwal is one of the fastest growing districts in Haryana. It falls is the NCR (National Capital Region). Palwal is famous for its cotton trade.

According to local tales, Palwal got its name from a demon king Palwasur who ruled this city during the reign of the Pandavas. Balram, the elder brother of Lord Krishna killed Palwasur. To honor this event a festival is held here which is called “Baldev Chhat Ka Mela”. Dauji Temple is dedicated to Balaram which falls near the Municipal Chowk of Palwal. This city also contributed in the revolt 1857 as Hayat Ali and Khairat Ali were martyred along with 17 people from Palwal only.” Gandhiji was arrested from Palwal station for the first time.
