Compaq is a brand of Compaq Computer Corporation which is famous for its computers and laptops. This company was founded in year 1982 by Rod Canion, Jim Harris and Bill Murto. These three men were the senior managers of Texas Instruments in United States. Its headquarter in based in Harris County, Texas, United States. The company provides desktop computers, laptops, servers, softwares, networking equipment's etc. In 1990s Compaq has become the largest supplier of desktop computers. But by some problems the Compaq company was acquired by HP in year 2002. Company gives its services and products in major countries like United Kingdom and United States. The name Compaq has made from the Compatibility and Quality. This name was given by Ogilvy and Mather. The sketch of Compaq's first computer was drawn by Ted Papajohn on a table napkin. Compaq is a company which produced first time a range of IBM PC compatible computers. After it in year 1991 the Compaq achieved the fifth place in the PC market by earning 3 billion dollars in a year. Compaq released its first product Compaq Portable in year March, 1983. It was a IBM PC compatible personal computer. Its price was 2995 US dollars that time. This computer is also known as Suitcase Computer. The headquarter of Compaq is spread in 80 acres area in United States. Its 15 buildings, 7 manufacturing units a product conference center, laboratories and many other units are available in this area. In 2009 HP had sold some part of Compaq to the Lone Star College System.
