BPL is formed as British Physical Laboratories. It is a publicly based electronic equipments provider company in India. BPL is catalogued with the Bombay Stock Exchange. The company was incorporated, in the decade of 1963 in Palakkad, Kerala. It is a leading manufacturer company of precision panel meters for the armed forces. This company was established by Mr. TPG Nambiar. Its nerve center is based in Bangalore city. At the beginning, BPL enlarged its range of medical product. Company expands them to include electrocardiography and patient-monitoring systems. The company launched earlier ECG machine named Cardiart T108, in the year of 1968. BPL came into the consumer electronic trade, during 1981 with the production of televisions and microcomputer devices. In 1982, BPL began development of colour TV. After the year of 1982, the company developed business in the production of video cassette recorders, batteries, consumer electrical devices, colour television etc. The brand came under telecom services, by 1985. In 1990, it developed BPL Mobile to introduce the mobile telephony services. According to ORG MARG survey, it was on the 1st position as consumer durable company, in the year of 1998. It achieved Reddot Design Award for BPL Studylite, in 2010.
