Satna is an ancient city of Bharhut and the center of the Buddhist culture, situated in the Madhya Pradesh state. Satna district has Rewa on the east, Shahdol on the southwest, Uttar Pradesh on the north and Umaria and Katni districts on the south. According to medieval history of Satna, it was completely ruled by Baghel Empire (Rewa Kingdom). Baghel Empire was one of Madhya Pradesh’s many native empires. In the 14th century, Raja Vyaghra Deo founded the great inland empires at Riwa. In the present time, Satna is one of the fastest growing cities due to its industrial and commercial activities.
