SHEESH MAHAL:
Situated behind the Moti Bagh, it is one of the famous tourist destinations of Patiala district, built by
Mahraja Narinder Singh in 1847. Its one section is beautifully decorated with colored glasses. It is a
triple storey building also known as Palace of Mirrors.
QILA MUBARAK:
The Qila Mubarak complex is situated in the heart of the city. There are Darshani Gate, a Shiva temple,
and bazaar shops Outside the Qila that are also center of attraction among local tourists. One can buy
precious ornaments, colorful hand-woven fabrics, and bright parandis from these shops.
DARBAAR HALL:
Darbaar hall was once used for public occasions, now converted into a museum. It contains dazzling
chandeliers,armors, including sword and dagger of Guru Gobind Singh and Nadir Shah.
MOTI BAGH PALACE:
It is one of the most magnificent palaces, started in supervision of Maharaja Narinder, it was completed
during the period of Maharaja Bhupinder Singh in the early 20th century. It had been converted into
National Institute for Sports, set in a beautiful garden with terraces and water channels.
QILA ANDROON:
The palace has adopted an architectural style of Mughal and Rajasthani. However Androon is stood as
single interconnected building yet it is known as a series of palacs. There is a cluster made by every
series of rooms in courtyard and holds a name such as Sheesh Mahal, Toshakhana, Jalau Khana, Chand
Mahal, Rang Mahal, Treasury and Prison. It is interesting that Burj Baba Ala Singh even has a fire that
is lit since the time of Baba Ala Singh along with a flame brought by him from Jwalaji.
MAI JI DI SARAN:
It is beautiful monument was built for resting place for travelers, that is converted into criminal
investigation agency office now.
BARADARI GARDENS:
The Baradari gardens surround the Rajindra Kothi located in the north of old Patiala city, just outside
Sheranwala Gate. The gardens, laid under Maharaja Rajindera Singh were planted extensively rare
trees and shrubs, dotted with impressive Colonial buildings and a marble statue of Maharaja Rajindera
Singh and the Fern House.
LACHMAN JHOOLA:
Lachman Jhoola is the replica of Laxman Jhoola at Rishikesh. It is suspension bridge which is built
across the lake in front of Sheesh Mahal.This bridge connects Sheesh mahal with the Banasar Ghar
which now houses the North Zone Cultural Center and a hall used for exhibitions.
