Panna city is situated in the north-eastern part of the Madhya Pradesh. It is also called “the city of diamonds”. As specified in the Vishnu and Bhavishya Purana the old name of Panna locale was Padmawati-Puri, however in Valmiki Ramayana, it was specified as Kilkila-Khand by Sugreev, while in Shrimad Bhagwat the city was titled as Kilkila Pradesh. The city is also the administrative center of the Panna district.
