The only city that offers an opportunity to grab a quick pick, while on those tiring traffic lights.
Where on one hand you can spot action heroes on the streets, on the other there are opulent neighbourhoods are surrounded by sprawling slums. The striking contrasts of the city can be seen in its skyscrapers standing next to the stately Victorian buildings, and the noisy traditional bazaars adjoining the glittering new shopping malls.
Oozing with self confidence of Maverick-money makers, and bindaas attitude, the city has emerged as the commercial and financial capital of the country. Its only here that on a quiet evening you can just walk around the Marine Drive, where a sea of people gathers under the grey monsoon sky.
Or just find a dry spot on the shore of the Chowpatty beach to watch the waves crashing. The town of dabbawalas and vada pav lovers is a treasure trove of warm hearted people, and with it cosmopolitan culture its best known as Aamchi Mumbai. The people here babble in a language you cannot understand, and thats what they call the Mumbai Hindi.
Mumbai is the town where you can find the splendid rock-cut architectures of Ajanta and Ellora in vicinity, and also the lover's town of Khandala.
It goes without saying that, the greatest spectacle of the Mumbai calender is Ganesh Chaturthi, when huge images of Ganesha are immersed in the sea. Apart from being fun, pulsating and alive, Mumbai also is the second populous town of the world with a spectacularly spirited cultural life.
