Davanagere city is situated in the heart of the southern Indian state of Karnataka. It is the 6th largest city of Karnataka. The city has derived its name from the word Devanagari, and the meaning of this word is ‘the City of divines’. The city is well-known for its agro processing industries and educational institutes. This city has been nominated as one of the hundred Indian cities to be established or developed as a smart city according to PM Narendra Modi's flagship Smart Cities Mission.
