Dahod is situated on the banks of the Dudhimati River in the state of Gujarat. It is bounded by Chhota Udaipur to the south, and Panchmahal districts to the west. Dahod is called ‘Dohad’ because it is bounded by the two nearby states; Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. Dahod is a model town in Gujarat. It is also the birthplace of the Mughal emperor, Aurangzeb. He was born in Dahod fort in 1618, during the reign of Jahangir.
The city is also a medical hub for the nearby areas of Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. Dahod city hosts various non-profit centers, such as: Anjuman Trust, Government Hospital, Urban Bank hospital and Drashtri Netralaya (famous non- profit eye clinic). Also, the city has been nominated as one of the hundred Indian cities to be established or developed as a smart city according to PM Narendra Modi's flagship Smart Cities Mission.
