Hoshiarpur district is located in north east part of Punjab. It comes under Jalandhar Revenue Division and is situated in the Bist Doab portion of the Doaba region. Hoshiarpur shares its boundaries with Kangra and Una Districts of Himachal Pradesh in the north east while Jalandhar and Kapurthala are situated in the south west.
It is believed to be founded around 4th century and was merged into Punjab state in 1809 AD when forces of Maharaja Karanveer Singh occupied it. Also known as the “City of Mangoes”, Hoshiarpur has been famous for its ivory and wooden handicrafts.
Hoshiarpur District contains four Sub-Divisions, ten Development Blocks, eight Municipal Councils and one Notified Area Committee.
