About Air India
Air India is a Government of India undertaking airline company. This flag bearer airline is fully possessed by Air India Limited. The company was inaugurated with the name Tata Airlines, in the month of July, 1930. It began its first operation, on October 15, 1932. It's head office is situated in Indian Airlines House, Parliament Street, New Delhi, India. Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi and Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport in Mumbai are its two major centers in the country. It has two other secondary centers named Chennai International Airport and Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport situated in Chennai and Kolkata respectively. Tata Air Lines converted into a public Company and renamed Air India Limited, on 29th July 1946. It has launched first air services for first class cum tourist class to London and Nairobi, in the month of October, 1953. The company has commenced its first flight, on 14th of August 1954, under L-749A constellation VT DAS to Hong Kong through Bangkok and Kolkata.
