Indian Government Orders Google, Apple To Remove Tik Tok
Following quite a while of speculation and legitimate tussle, India seems to have restricted the Chinese video-sharing application TikTok. One of the most famous mobile applications in the world, TikTok was not accessible for download in India on neither Google’s Play Store nor Apple's App Store since today (April 17) morning. On April 04, the Madras high court had asked PM Narendra Modi's government to prohibition the application saying it was encouraging erotic entertainment. Prior this week, India's Supreme Court denied remaining the Madras high court's order imposing a restriction on the application. India isn't the primary country to make a move against the TikTok. In February, the US FTC (Federal Trade Commission) slapped a fine of $5.7 million (Rs 40 Crore) on the application to settle claims of child security law infringement. The application has been blamed for gathering individual information from users younger than 13 without seeking parental assent. This is the biggest civil punishment the FTC has ever gathered in a children's security case.
