I Love You Dad

Dad, daddy, pops, papa, baba, appa; all these names are for one person, my father. Every time I call him I come up with one or the other silly name for him. I am 13 and if you ask my Dad about his age, he would reply 18. My parents are everything to me. But my dad is like my buddy. We eat like maniacs, act like big boys, play pranks like stupid kids and love each other very much.

It is not that I don’t love my mom, I do. But I am more of my daddy’s girl; I am more attached to him. My mom is never willing to make me do things that usually boys do. My dad in turn makes me do anything and everything that I like. Riding on a scooter, playing cricket, lifting weights and recently he even let me travel alone from Ahmadabad to Chandigarh, which my Mom would never allow me even in her wildest dreams!

When it comes to have a permission to go for a party, Mom’s instant reply is ‘NO’. Then daddy is there to make up mom, and then comes a ‘YES’. So, Mom always say ‘YES’ for what I seek permission because you know Dad is there…

My Dad and I share common interests; we love gulping ice-cream scoops at Baskin Robins and munching burger at Mc Donald’s, shopping at 17 plaza and of course, not to be missed; go mad after animated movies. He also helps me with my studies and most of the time, he makes me study Mathematics.

But all the fun we used to have is not the same now. As my dad works in a bank, he gets transferred to new places. Recently he was transferred to Ahmadabad, yet another city, another state. He is there from the past six months. Now we meet once a month. He comes for three to seven days and makes his visit clear- sailing for us all.

We manage to enjoy to the fullest in the shortest of times. Whenever he comes to Chandigarh, he surely gets gifts for my mom, my brother and me. When he comes back home, we make the best out of every moment. The four of us go out for dinner, amusement parks and movies. Though my Dad is staying away from us, but phone calls keeps us connected all the time.

I miss my Dad a lot, I wish he gets transferred back soon and we have fun every day. As the famous quote says, ‘One father is more than a hundred Schoolmasters’. Same is my Dad. He is everything to me… I Love you Dad
