Manish Tewari is an Indian legislator, who was Union Minister of State (Independent charge), Minister of Information and Broadcasting and a representative of Parliament from Ludhiana. Manish Tewari is 54 years of age Lok Sabha MP, selected from Ludhiana of Punjab state as a representative from INC (Indian National Congress) Party. Manish Tewari was conceived to Late Dr. (Shri) Vishwanath Tewari, Ex. M.P and Dr. (Mrs.) Amrit Kaur and is hitched to Mrs. Naaznin B. Shafa. He/She has 1 daughter. Tewari was the leader of the National Students Union of India 1989 and Indian Youth Congress from 1998 to 2000. In 2004, he lost the Lok Sabha elections yet effectively challenged the 2009 Lok Sabha elections by overcoming Shiromani Akali Dal's candidate Gurcharan Singh Galib by a margin of more than 100,000 votes. From 28 October 2012 to 26 May 2014, Manish Tewari was Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting. Manish Tewari, a lawyer by career, currently practices in the Supreme Court of India and the High Courts of Delhi as well as Punjab and Haryana. As a representative from parliament, he has been dynamic in drafting a Private member's bill to bring the intelligence offices under parliamentary oversight. While he was planned to challenge polls from his supporters Ludhiana, in March 2014 he was admitted to the emergency hospital for heart disease. Days after the fact he communicated his reluctance to challenge parliamentary elections owing to his sick health. Manish Tewari has been replaced by Ravneet Singh Bittu, the grandson of previous Punjab Chief Minister Beant Singh.
