Bangalore Development Authority is an organization of the government which came into existence to develop the city by using the high qualitative infrastructure and make it an ideal global destination. About a decade before, Sir M. Visveswaraya and Sir M. Mirza were two Dewans of Mysore State, who show their interest in developing the Bangalore by making some improvements. The activities of two Dewans achieved the attention of government. The government constituted Improvement Trust Board in 1945 and did many developing activities such as creation of some famous extensions, development of residential extension schemes, the residential/commercial, institutional, industrial sites or industrial suburb are developed etc. Later on 6th of January 1976, Improvement Trust Board became to be known as Bangalore Development Authority under Bangalore Development Authority Act 1976 that is abbreviated as BDA.
With passing the time many developments are done by the BDA and the business categorized as per the departments such as the Engineering Department, IT Department, Town Planning, Land Acquisition, Law, Finance, Allotment General, Public Relations, Deputy Conservator Of Forests. All these departments are categorized so that they develop the city in their appropriate area. On the other hand, the BDA maintains its functions in two parts such as planning and development. Plans and schemes are made under planning function while under the development function, all the plans are implemented.
