Amul is one of the leading milk and milk products producers in India. The journey of Amul was started in the year of 1946 through a strike of some farmers. The farmers get together and developed cooperative under the guidance of Morarji Desai, the leader name and the Tribhuvandas Patel. The Cooperative was named as Kaira District, Co-operative Milk Producers Union Limited which was initialized with co-operative societies of two villages and with the total quantity of milk was 247 liters. With passing the time, the firm become famous as Anand Milk Federation Union Limited and company become to known as Amul. The head office of the Amul is located at Anand, Gujarat, India. In the year of 1996, Amul launched its Ice Cream in Gujarat. Amul has a large network with more than 53 sales offices, 20 lakh retailers and 10000 dealers around the India to provide its products. Amul has many sales branches in overseas locations such as Australia, Bangladesh, China, Hong Kong Oman, Singapore, United Arab Emirates and United States. Amul was awarded for many awards such as IMC Ramkrishna Bajaj National Quality Award, Most Respected Company Award, Rajiv Gandhi National Quality Award and International Dairy Federation Marketing Award. Amul is a member of Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation Limited (GCMMF), is India's largest food product marketing and manufacturing organization. The Taste of India is slogan of Amul. Amul offers a wide range of milk and food products such as Milk, Butter,Cheese, UHT Milk, Mithai Mate, Ice Cream, Paneer, Dahi, Ghee, Milk Powders, Chocolates, Fresh Cream, Pouch Butter Milk, Sweets and Beverage, etc. Amul also provides feed for cattle.
