Overview Amravati

Amravati is a district of Maharashtra state in the central India. It is also known as Ambanagari, due to its historical landmark; the Amba temple. The city is a part of the vidarbha region and is blessed with nature’s bounty in plenty.

In the year 1956, the Amravati district became the part of Bombay and after the division of Bombay state in 1960, it became the part of Maharashtra state. The Amravati district was also declared as one of the most backward districts among the 250 backward districts in India; therefore, it receives funds from the BRGF (Backward Regions Grant Fund Program). Cotton, Jowar, Groundnut and pulses are the main crops produced in the city and because of its cotton production, it is known as major cotton producing district in India.
