Introduction to Alabama

Alabama is one of the states in the USA, sometimes referred to as ‘Yellowhammer State’ and ‘Heart of Dixie’. The state is named after Alabama River that flows in Montgomery, the capital of Alabama. Alabama falls in the south-eastern area of the United States, and touches the border of Tennessee in North, and Georgia in East and on its South, it joins the Gulf of Mexico. It is among the most populous states in the U.S holding total land area of 52,419 square miles.

Alabama state was established in 1819 as the 22nd state of the country, and Birmingham is the largest city in the state, according to the population. Huntsville is the largest land area in the state of Alabama while Mobile is the oldest city, came into the existence during French colonist rule over the region.
