Overview: North Coast Institute of TAFE (Technical and Further Assistance) is situated on the New South Wales north coast. North Coast TAFE consists of 17 campuses located between the Great Lakes region in the south to the Tweed Heads region on the Queensland border, in addition to the virtual Open Campus which connects students to online and distance learning options. In 2009, North Coast TAFE was one of three finalists nation-wide in the Australian Training Awards Skills for Sustainability category and in both 2009 and 2010 were recognized in the TAFE NSW Gili Awards as the leading TAFE institute for Aboriginal education and training. At the 2010 Australian Training Awards, two of students achieved second place in the award categories of School-based Apprentice and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Students.
North Coast TAFE delivers around 500 Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) qualifications in a wide range of regulations mainly from AQF Certificates I-IV through to Diplomas and Advanced Diplomas, plus several Graduate Certificate and Graduate Diplomas. It has agreements with several universities to offer a conduit with advanced standing of between 6 and 24 months into many degree programs.
Study Centre: North Coast TAFE has various amenities inside its campus sites that may be made available for use by other external parties. Facilities available include General purpose classrooms, Computer classrooms, Trade workshops, Seminar and conference rooms. All the campuses offer an excellent learning environment with Modern classrooms and equipment, Specialist training centres, Individual learning centres for students experiencing, Difficulties in English, mathematics or science, Student cafeterias and bookshops. Modern libraries providing Resource collections in a variety of media, Access to computers and the Internet, Study areas and copying/printing/scanning facilities.
Accommodation: Each campus provides a student common area for relaxation after class hours. Most campuses also have a canteen, tea and coffee-making facilities, microwave ovens and food and drink vending machines. Each campus employs security officers or outsources contracts to a security firm to provide security patrols, to guarantee a safe and secure student and staff environment. One can stay with a local family in order to truly experience life in Australia. This is called Home-stay. The families provide meals and transport to the campus. Alternatively a rented accommodation can be shared with other students, rent own apartment or house or may be able to live on-campus.....Reading in short
