National Institute of Technology - NIT Kurukshetra is a leading Technical Institute of Kurukshetra. The institute began working as Regional Engineering College, Kurukshetra in the year 1963. Since the time this Institute was given the status of Deemed University on June 26, 2002, since then it has been named as National Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra.

The campus is divided into three functional sectors which are: Hostels for the students, Instructional buildings and Residential sector for the staff. The three storey buildings of hostels offer comfortable accommodation and pleasant atmosphere to students. A fully fledged health centre is operational in the campus which is run by qualified doctors, a Post Office and a branch of the State Bank of India which is also situated at convenient points on the Campus.
National Institute of Technology - NIT Kurukshetra switched to the 4-year B.Tech. degree courses from the academic year of 1985-86. The yearly intake in B.Tech course presently is 540. Special three-year degree programs in fields of Civil, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering, named as 'Bachelor of Engineering for in-service engineering diploma holders were started from the year 1982-83. But, these courses were suspended by the Govt. of Haryana in the year 2000. The 2-year M.Sc. (Engg.) degree programs in different fields were re-designated as M. Tech. degree courses with effect from the session 1983-84. The yearly intake in M.Tech courses currently is 165. From the session 1987-88, the Institute started a four-year B. Tech. degree course in Computer Engineering with an intake of 30 students.
National Institute of Technology - NIT Kurukshetra also started full time M. Tech. Degree programs in Electronics and Communication Engineering with an intake of 13 students. The intake of B. Tech. Electronics and communication engineering degree programs were increased from 30 to 60 students from the session 1987-88. Full time M. Tech. degree programs in Water Recourses-Civil Engineering Department were started in 1989-90.
In the session 2006-07, the National Institute of Technology - NIT Kurukshetra began a two-year MBA course and two four-year B. Tech. degree courses in Information Technology and Industrial Engineering Management. From the session 2007-08, the Institute began a three-year MCA course. Each of these recently started programs has an intake of 60 students. In addition to giving instructions in different fields of Engineering and Technology at the Undergraduate and Postgraduate level, the Institute provides exceptional services for advanced research in the upcoming areas of Science and Technology.
The Training and Placement Cell at National Institute of Technology - NIT Kurukshetra looks after the needs of training and campus placements for the students. Planning for Pre-Placements talks, written tests, interviews, group discussions, etc are all looked after by the staff at the office.....Reading in short
