Hans Raj College premises were inaugurated on 3rd October 1954 by the Honourable President of India Dr. Rajendra Prasad. Present on the occasion were Shri Bakshi Tek Chand, Chief Justice Shri Mehar Chand Mahajan, Dr G S Mahajani (Vice Chancellor Delhi University); Lala Yodhraj and Principals of various DAV colleges. The building comprised of (a) the front block comprising class-rooms, laboratories and offices (b) the hostel and (c) the Principal’s residence. The auditorium was added afterwards. Under the guidance of Shri Shanti Narayan, the college made rapid progress, new courses were added, large number of students were admitted, more classrooms were added on the first floor, new laboratories were constructed. Shri Shanti Narayan also added a sports complex including an indoor badminton hall, a seminar room and a library. Canteen and hostel capacity was increased. Grants from UGC assisted in these construction processes. The teachers of Hans Raj College are the greatest asset of this college. Today, there are 85 teachers who are either Readers or in Reader’s Grade. The faculty members have made noteworthy contribution not only to the corporate life of the college but also shaped the academic, social and cultural life of India. Hans Raj College is proud of its alumni who have outshined in every walk of life, be it public life, civil services, armed forces, judiciary, private and public sectors, media and television and films. They have done the college proud. Hans Raj College has a hostel accommodating for 200 undergraduate boys and is filleted with solar geysers and 24hrs power back up. The college offers Bachelor of Arts in subjects like Economics, Hindi, English, History, and Sanskrit. For science students the courses offered are Bachelor of Science courses in Anthropology, Botany, Chemistry, Computer Sciences, Electronics, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Zoology, Applied Physical Sciences, Life Sciences and Physical Sciences. Master of Science in Physics Operational Research, Chemistry, Mathematics, Zoology, Botany, Anthropology, and Geology are the subjects offered for post graduation. As far as Hans Raj College Placement is concerned, HCL Technologies seeks to welcome bright minds for the designation of Graduate Software Trainees from Institute- Hans sraj College- Delhi University. At Google, the University Programs teams works to establish, develop and maintain relationships with colleges and universities both domestically and internationally. It has a host of interesting campus engagement activities planned for the current academic year, aimed at providing the students with knowledge and an experience of life at Google, India.
