Overview: HMI Institute of Health Sciences is located in 167 Jalan Bukit Merah, Connection One Tower 5, #05-10, Singapore.
Establishment: HMI Institute of Health Sciences was established in 1983 by Health Management International Ltd, the regional healthcare and education services provider.
Specialty: The college has undertaken programs like “Healthcare management”, “Emergency life support.....Continuing reading training centre” etc. It also has many facilities for Nurse training programs with state of art training rooms, models of human beings to work on. The college also encourages hands on experience by letting students observe doctors at work.
Campus: Study Centre: HMI Institute of Health Sciences offers vocational and medical training in three of its schools namely, “School of health care”, “vocational training institute of Nursing education” and “School of healthcare management”. HMI-IHS also offers training courses through its emergency life support training centre to healthcare workers and general public.
Hostel: HMI does not enlist a hostel of its own even though it does collaborate with various other housing places and offers discounts to its students. It is also strategically located in the residential area thereby attracting many localites who reside there.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of HMI Institute of Health Sciences - HMI IHS Bukit Merah is optimized to provide as close to reality training as possible. In that effect, the college enlists simulated hospital settings such as: Nurse counter, clinic, hospital wards, isolation rooms, preparation room, sluice room. Apart from this, the institute also has state of art classrooms and faculty that provides in depth knowledge about Medicine. The college encourages practical participation in order to make the students understand the implication of theories that they learn.
It has 6 wide, airy classrooms, therapy labs, a library with the world’s most famous medical journals, exam room, student lounge meant for student recreation. For the purpose of practice, they also have BP monitor sets, ECG machines, CPR mannequins, patient stimulators, suction machine, skeletal and anatomical models etc. to help students gain hands on, practical experience of medical & nurse training.
Faculty: It includes several full time and part time lecturers.
Accreditation: In addition, HMI-IHS’ Standard First Aid course is accredited by the National First Aid Council for the National Registry of Coaches for 2012/2013.
